Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator was the only sound in the kitchen as Emily, coffee cup in hand, stared at the computer screen. The online listing of her childhood home had popped up in her social media feed. The pictures were glossy, the descriptions polished, but the foundation was unmistakable. She felt a peacefulness.

She ran her fingers over the screen as though touching the house itself. She remembered the laughter, the arguments, the triumphs and the failures that had all occurred within those walls.

She leaned back in her chair. A feeling of serenity had enveloped her. She felt like time had stopped. She took another sip of her coffee and decided to call her sister, just to chat.
